Global migration is an enduring phenomenon rather than a temporary economic solution. In the current economic solution, migration is a necessity for many Filipinos. The impacts and consequences of migration are directly felt at the local level as financial remittances while it is contributing to the national economy also benefit the migrants’ family and the local community. The Committee in Migration and Development aims to sustain and institutionalize the accomplishments and initiatives in mainstreaming migration and development concerns in local and regional planning, investment programming, budgeting, monitoring and evaluation.

The City Government of Ligao with its Committee on Migration and Development spearheaded an exposure trip to different agencies to gather insights in crafting and implementing programs and services to migrant workers and their families. It will also enhance the performance of the city in the operation and management of the programs and activities and will able to strengthen and align existing programs and services to the migrant workers and their families.

Some of the agencies/organizations visited are the ATIKHA Overseas Workers and Communities Initiative, Inc., Region IVA NEDA, Provincial Government of Batangas, and Soro-Soro Ibaba Development Cooperative (SIDC).
